Love all and Deuce !

I read about Novac Djokovic sometime back and how he realized his childhood dream of being an ace player and a beautiful confirmation that when you do things out of love and passion everything is possible said the 34 yr old. Profound I would say. Two key words sometimes that are lost in this fast-paced life where we are constantly running a rat race. There is technology that helps you with the pace but that which can pace your heart are these things. Any moment you look in your life when you would have been happiest would have either of these two rather both. You experience not just professional excellence with these two human emotions but personal as well. True love is not just bookish it’s not just about happily ever after. It takes constant love and passion to survive this tough life and relationships. The more you love your game the more it bounces back. It transcends to life itself. Love is about not giving up, it’s unconditional, whatever happens, I am in for it. There is constant pressure to perform, to excel in your game. How does one deal with it you just need to forget everything else and focus on what’s needed for a good game? It involves not just practice but love and passion for the game. So you may love all but the advantage sets the difference.

Why am I a recruiter?

If I had to answer this question 2 years back, I would say I was running away from from home trying to escape to the clutches of a match maker, only to realize that I am going to take on that role albeit from a different perspective.

It was only once I started working as a recruiter, did I realize that being one is much more than just about placing people. We need to have a close match and strike a balance between various aspects i.e fit the job description, meet urgency of the requirement, deal with budget constraints and manage candidate, client expectations. Sounds familiar ….

Quite like the match maker caught between the deep sea and devil. Bringing them together and creating harmony demands oodles of patience and perseverance or sometimes its plain luck. Sometimes one can even be completely zapped at how the candidate has been selected, just like oddest of couples make a match.

The easiest answer to why I am a recruiter would be that I enjoy my work and the constant adrenaline rush it gives whenever I place a candidate. But the more I ponder I realize it’s also about the discovery I make about myself in the process or how creative I have been or sometimes just plain guilty of being a terrible match maker!

So as the phrase goes “Matchmaker Matchmaker, make me a match, find me a find, and catch me a catch”…. I continue on this journey.

The benefits I give to Client and Candidate

Client – At the organizational level, they now have a candidate who is a the right fit for their organization and along with his /her unique selling point is a long term asset to the organization. The candidate if he /she has potential would bring in far more benefits then imagined in the coming years as they attain leadership roles. The client also saves on time and money and can manage expectations better. On a macro level it would keep the economy as a whole buoyant!

Candidate– From the candidate’s point of view I serve as a vital link, helping him fulfill his aspirations by placing him at the right place, at the right time. For a newcomer it would mean establishing himself or herself and for experienced professional it may bring in a breath of fresh air or unlearning what they have learned or making change more meaningful with their varied experience. I personally have a soft corner for” Happy endings”

The Whistleblower ( a different take )

The best of whistleblowers are born at home I say ! I am talking of the children in your house as he/she cross a certain age exposing the lies within a family almost exposing them at the most unfortunate time. The parents at their wits end not knowing what to do may just have to keep mum. This kind of whistleblowing is most extraordinary cause it embarrassess you to no end. All your efforts to cover it up will be in vain. The world will know what it should not know or rather should know !!! Rest assured this may not have crossed your imagination ever .

The Rainbow calling

As we rushed to see the rainbow today evening, I felt like a child again! The children with a twinkle in their eyes and excitement! Alas, we missed it.  Now we may have missed the rainbow, but should have seen my daughter, she was thrilled to bits to see the blue blue sky. Nature brings with it so many unforgettable moments of joy, I think it’s beyond imagination and one priceless thing. Something was running on my mind we have this pandemic to deal with and we have nature’s fury lashing out in different parts of India in different forms impacting many lives. We definitely need to pray but more than that we need to create awareness and importance of our precious nature. Lesser trees more houses just one thing that I see immediately around me. Can we collectively do something? Can I do something more? Where will the children play, ride, have fun, learn and laugh with their friend’s joys unbridled? Will we be able to leave a greener legacy for them? Just the rainbow calling.
